EXHIBITION EXTENDEND UNTIL
SEPTEMEBER 13th, 2019Alice, Não Quero Ficar Entre Gente Maluca (Alice, I Don’t Want To Be With Crazy People) brings the 19th century Victorian England universe to the Winter break at the Mindlin Brasiliana Library
The Guita and José Mindlin Brasiliana Library (BBM) at USP welcomes in July the exhibition “Alice, Não Quero Ficar Entre Gente Maluca” with pieces by the artist and illustrator Syl Soares and curated by Luiz Armando Bagolin and Fabrício Reiner.
Syl Soares’s latest exhibition focuses on the literary and imaginary universe of Lewis Carroll’s classic work (1832-1898). Alice’s fantastic stories this time will be transposed into an interactive multimedia installation set up in the BNDES room of the Guita and José Mindlin Brasiliana Library at USP.
Some of the book’s passages are translated into situations, collages, bricolages, and objects exhibitions (objet trouvé) that allude to the 19th-century Victorian England universe.
The artist Syl Soares uses the memory of stories told to construct a work of expressionist or neo-expressionist character, sometimes distorting them, sometimes fragmenting them, raising an alert about the ability to dream.
Alice, I Don’t Want To Be With Crazy People opens July 4th, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, at the BNDES Room of the Guita and José Mindlin Brasiliana Library. Visitation runs from July 5th to August 27th, from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Admission free.
