FUVEST books to be discussed with students at USP’s Mindlin Library

Biblioteca Brasiliana Guita e José Mindlin - 05/07/2019

Free, Projeto BBM no Vestibular (BBM at the Vestibular Project) holds monthly meetings bringing authors and students preparing for college entrance exams closer together, expanding the access toand understanding of the books

Held since 2017, the BBM at the Vestibular Project of the Brasiliana Guita and José Mindlin Library (BBM) of USP has brought the entrance exams and the literary works closely together. In partnership with the Cursinho Popular Clarice Lispector, monthly meetings of literary analysis and chats with the public are promoted about the works that are part of the list of compulsory books of the FUVEST / 2020 entrance exam.

For the BBM vice-director and project coordinator, Professor Alexandre Macchione Saes, the project is based on the conviction that the University of São Paulo must strengthen its ties with society to break down barriers between the general public and the scientific and academic world: “Thus, by propagating the space of the Library as a place of literary experiences, the project aims to awaken the existing reader in each young person, to broaden the various ways of reading the world and, thus, perceive the charm and pleasure that the reading can provide for the characteristic of textual doing that is the articulation of language with reflection and reality ”.

In addition to holding the meetings, the Library preserves a unique collection of Brazilian history and literature and keeps it available to the public. On the library’s website (www.bbm.usp.br/livros-vestibular), the BBM no Vestibular project provides introductory texts about the works selected for FUVEST and expert lecture videos to bring the young person closer to Brazilian literature and the university.
