With national and foreign guests, Osusp brings diversified programming and reinforces solidarity action with food and clothing donations

The USP Symphony Orchestra (Osusp) opens its concert schedule in May and June 2023. The next presentation, by the cycle Sculpting Time – Osusp Guests, takes place on May 13, Saturday, at 4 pm, at the Camargo Guarnieri Amphitheater and is dedicated to the Chilean singer and composer Violeta Parra, conducted by Alejandra Urrutia (Chile). Free tickets can be purchased in advance online on the appticket platform. Osusp suggests to the public the donation of non-perishable food and warm clothes that will be donated to communities in Butantã.
In addition to Violeta Parra with El Gavilán, which is arranged by Sergio “Tilo” González, Igor Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite and Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 3 in F Major, Op.90 will be performed.
On May 20, Saturday, at 4 pm, the concert honors the 120th anniversary of Cândido Portinari, by the Concertos da Torre do Relógio com o tema Povos Originários por Portinari. Conducted by maestro Gil Jardim, it features a vocal solo by singer Marlui Miranda and the participation of Coralusp, conducted by Tiago Pinheiro. The program features Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92, by Ludwig van Beethoven, Tribute to Portinari, by César Guerra-Peixe and Bachianas Brasileiras No. 9, by Heitor Villa-Lobos.
No intervalo, haverá bate-papo com o professor e escritor João Candido Portinari, filho do homenageado, e com a professora Márcia Rizutto, do Instituto de Física (IF) da USP, sob a mediação da professora Marli Quadros Leite, pró-reitora de cultura e extensão universitária da USP.

The month of June continues with the Sculpting Time series, on Saturday, June 3, at 4 pm, conducted by Ligia Amadio. Concerto for 7 wind instruments, timpani, percussion and strings, by Frank Martin and Symphony No. 2 in D Major, op.73, by Johannes Brahms, are the works chosen.
On Friday 16 at noon, the audience has the opportunity to check out another presentation by the cycle Tempo – A diversidade nas lentes da música de câmara, this time dedicated to the brass section. The Orchestra selected the works Prelude, Fugue and Riffs – Clarinet Solo, by Leonard Bernstein and Ebony Concerto, by Igor Stravinsky.
The meeting on June 24, Saturday, at 4 pm, by the Clock Tower Concerts cycle brings the theme Imagem refletida, o tempo no espelho. The presentation comes with soundtracks from successful films such as Jurassic Park, by John Williams, Back to the Future, by Alan Silvestri, and Interstellar, by Hans Zimmer. The composition Fibers, Yarn and Wire, by Brazilian composer Alexandre Lunsqui completes the program.
In the interval, there will be a conversation with the director of the Science Station, paleontologist, dinosaur specialist and professor Luiz Eduardo Anelli, from the Institute of Geosciences (IGc) of USP, and with the coordinator of the USP Innovation Center (Inova), engineer, specialist in integrable systems and professor Marcelo Zuffo, from the Polytechnic School (EP) of USP. The mediation is by Professor Marli Quadros Leite.
