The radio segment “Caminhos da Cultura” (Culture Pathways), which will be presented weekly live in the “Via Sampa” radio program, seeks to bring the community and USP’s cultural production closer together
The Rádio USP (93,7 FM) debuted on November 9, during the broadcasting of the “Via Sampa” radio show (on the air from 12 a.m. to 1 p.m.), the radio segment “Caminhos da Cultura” (Culture Pathways), to be presented on Thursdays. The initiative is a partnership between Rádio USP and the Pró-Reitoria de Cultura e Extensão Universitária (PRCEU) and aims to disseminate the cultural production conducted by USP and bring the population closer to this content.
“Caminhos da Cultura” is an old cultural guide from the University of São Paulo undergoing a reformulation. Being rearranged to an electronic format and radio broadcasting play an important role in the process. A digital newsletter with the cultural content of USP is foreseeable in the near future.
At first, journalists Elcio Silva and Michel Sitnik will alternate every Thursday and present a little of what is produced by each of the Culture and Extension centers of PRCEU, in addition to the programs already developed by the Pró-Reitoria.
PRCEU has a wide-ranging role in the management of programs to promote academic initiatives in culture and extension and in supporting the actions of the university community within society. The structure comprises Brasiliana Guita and José Mindlin Library (BBM), USP Theater (TUSP), USP Cinema (Cinusp), USP Symphonic Orchestra (OSUSP), USP Choir (CoralUSP), “Centro Universitário Maria Antonia” (CEUMA), Science Station, USP’s Science and Technology Park (Parque CienTec), Science Museum (MC), Cultural Preservation Center “Casa de D. Yayá” (CPC) and “Engenho São Jorge dos Erasmos”. Programs such as “Aproxima-Ação”, “USP Legal”, “USP Diversidade” and “Universidade Aberta a Terceira Idade” broaden USP’s relationship with the community. PRCEU also promotes its own actions in the field of culture and university extension, such as the “Nascente”, “USP e as Profissões” and “Giro Cultural USP” programs.
