To welcome the new students, Centro de Preservação Cultural from (CPC) USP – Casa de Dona Yayá has prepared a special event for Fresher Week called Roteiros do Patrimônio da USP (USP Heritage Routes), which will take place between March 15 and 17. Registration is free and can be done until March 13 via the following link: https://forms.gle/j5jtPpxZuD9humwaA
The proposal is to introduce freshers to a little of the University’s vast and rich cultural heritage through itineraries through the Armando de Salles Oliveira University City, the capital’s center, and the São Carlos Campus.
The itineraries include buildings and architectural complexes that have cultural and historical relevance, such as the Faculdade de Direito from Largo São Francisco building, the Centro Universitário Maria Antonia, the Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo, the Centro de Divulgação Científica e Cultural and the building known as E1, which is part of the original project for the university city of São Carlos. Many of the sites that will be visited are recognized and listed by heritage preservation bodies in Brazil.
USP, one of the largest higher education institutions in Latin America, with more than 4o teaching and research units spread across the state of São Paulo, has a set of cultural assets made up of buildings and monuments as well as natural areas, museums, collections of various kinds, academic documentation and cultural references. It is based on this heritage that the academic community establishes processes of knowledge construction, belonging, and value, as well as building its memories and creating relationships of identification between students and the institution.
O projeto Roteiros do Patrimônio da USP integra as ações do CPC, órgão da Pró-Reitoria de Extensão e Cultura, para promoção do estudo, da divulgação e da reflexão crítica sobre o patrimônio cultural da USP.
The Roteiros do Patrimônio da USP (USP Heritage Routes) project is part of the activities of the CPC, a body of the Pró-reitoria de Cultura e Extensão, to promote the study, disclosure, and critical reflection on USP’s cultural heritage.
