The Engenho dos Erasmos, in partnership with Estação Ciência, will host various activities for its holiday program. On January 27 and February 10, the National Monument will hold a workshop and a lecture on Prehistoric fossils for the audience aged between 7 and 12 years. The movie Jurassic Park will be screened on February 10.
The workshops, conceived by Estação Ciência and supervised by Professor Luiz Anelli, have already been successful in São Paulo and will be offered for the first time in Santos.
Luiz Anelli is the author of several popular science books about Brazilian Prehistory. For 18 years, the specialist has coordinated the Replicas Workshop at the Institute of Geosciences (USP), which produces didactic material for the fields of geosciences and biology.
Both the National Monument Ruins Engenho São Jorge dos Erasmos and Estação Ciência are part of the University of São Paulo’s Pró-Reitoria de Cultura e Extensão Universitária (PRCEU-USP).
Replica Workshop: Prehistory within Everyone’s Reach
On the last Saturday of January (27), a practical workshop for the production of replicas of Prehistoric fossil models will be offered by Estação Ciência’s educational program, supervised by Luiz Anelli. Lecture Dinosaurs in Brazil: 170 Million Years of Evolution
On the first Saturday of February (03), a lecture will be held, presented by Luiz Anelli. Its goal is to introduce children to the main stories about dinosaurs already discovered in Brazilian territory. Sugar-coated Movie Session: Jurassic Park

In the American film, paleontologists Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and mathematician Ian Malcolm are part of a select group chosen to visit an island inhabited by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. But after a power outage, visitors gradually discover that several fierce predators are loose and hunting.
