On April 13 at 6 p.m., the CentroMariAntonia, in partnership with Ápis Cultural and the Bairro com Vida movement, is hosting a lecture entitled “A arte como expressão e como destino: refúgio e deslocamentos artísticos” (Art as Expression and as Destination: refuge and artistic displacement), with researcher Monica Toledo da Silva and artist and professor at USP’s Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo (FAU), Silvio Dvorecki, with free admission.
The meeting seeks to present images and excerpts from works that record the phenomenon of people migrating around the world, proposing a conversation about this timeless reality.
Who are
Monica Toledo Silva is a semiotician, video artist, and researcher of the body, creator of the Bloop label (research and production of art, science, and philosophy,) and the Entremares network dedicated to promoting the arts of migration. She has post-doctoral degrees from the Universidade Federal de Minas (UFMG) and USP.
Silvio Dvorecki is an architect, professor at FAU, and artist with solo shows at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP), the Pinacoteca do Estado, and the Biennial de São Paulo. He is the author of Em busca do traço perdido and Camadas de Tempo, published by Editora da USP (Edusp) and Scipione Cultural.
