Fundamental assumptions and concepts will be addressed for the elaboration of projects in oral history
The Centro MariAntonia of USP will hold the free course Introdução à História Oral from August 9. Taught by the historian Ricardo Santhiago, it is divided into four face-to-face meetings, always on Wednesdays, from 3 am to 6 pm. With 75 vacancies, online registrations in the Sistema Apolo of USP are performed by the link http://e.usp.br/oew until July 28.
The course aims to present to the participant the possibilities of research and action made possible by oral history. In introductory character, will discuss oral history projects, with theoretical and practical training. According to Santhiago, “we will work with the assumptions and fundamental concepts of this approach, as well as the different techniques and methods that can be used in different projects”.
Students with at least 75% attendance will receive a certificate of attendance.

About the professor
Ricardo Santhiago is a historian and communicologist. Professor at the Universidade Federal de São Paulo (Unifesp), he coordinates the Centro de Memória Urbana (CMUrb) and the Artística Brasileira (Amabile). He is a CNPq research productivity fellow, level 2, in the area of History. He holds a degree in journalism from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica (PUC) of São Paulo, with a specialization in scientific journalism from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp), a master’s and doctorate in social history from the Universidade de São Paulo (USP), with a postdoctoral degree in history from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). Among his recent works are the co-organization of the books História oral como experiência: Reflexões metodológicas a partir de práticas de pesquisa (Oral History as Experience: Methodological Reflections from Research Practices), with Marta Rovai (2021), and Entrevistas imprevistas: surpresa e criatividade em história oral (Unexpected Interviews: Surprise and Creativity in Oral History), with Miriam Hermeto (2022).
