On August 17, starting at 2 pm, the MariAntonia Center and the Paulista Plenary of Amnestied and Amnestied Politicians promote the conversation wheel Political Amnesty: memory and resistance, with the participation of trade union entities, groups and collectives and a guided tour of the exhibition “Imagem-testemunho – experiências artísticas de presos políticos na ditadura civil-militar”“, which is on display.
The activity is part of the commemoration of the 44th anniversary of the Amnesty Law that was sanctioned on August 28, 1979, by the then President of the Republic, General João Batista Figueiredo.
Law 6.683 allowed the return of exiled militants and granted a “self-amnesty” to state agents responsible for repression, torture and murder after the 1964 coup.
The moment calls for this kind of reflection, in the face of constant attacks on institutions, memory and truth and transitional justice. The crimes of the dictatorship continue to remain current, as does their impunity.
