Free course discusses the precariousness of artistic work in the cultural industries

Comunicação - PRCEU - 07/27/2023

Flexibilization of the world of artistic work is put in focus for reflection

USP’s MariAntonia Center will hold the free course Viver de arte: O trabalho artístico nas Indústrias Culturais from August 4. Taught by sociologist Ricardo Normanha, it is divided into four face-to-face meetings, always on Fridays, from 3 to 5 pm. With 150 vacancies, online registrations in the USP Sistema Apolo are made through the link http://e.usp.br/oe7 until July 28.

The course aims to characterize the universe of artistic work in the cultural industries and present a set of reflections in an attempt to contribute to the theoretical and practical debate about artistic work, in the midst of debates on cultural public policies and work, in its fundamental articulations. According to Normanha, “art, which for a long time cultivated a radical opposition to the market, appears precisely as a precursor in the experimentation of flexibility based on neoliberal cultural policy. Whatever the specificities of artistic practices, they do not constitute an exception to the world of work”.

Students with at least 75% attendance will receive a certificate of participation.
